Greetings in our Lord Jesus Christ!

Thank you for visiting the web pages of Christ the King Priory - Saint Benedict Center in Schuyler, NE, and for clicking on the Mission Office link.

The Challenge:

Members of the Missionary Benedictine Congregation of St. Ottilien, of which Christ the King Priory in Schuyler is an integral part, are engaged in various ministries in many countries of Africa, Asia, North and South America, and Europe.
The focus of our work has changed from the beginnings in 1884. Evangelization efforts in parts of the world where Christianity was unknown marked the early years of our Congregation. The later part of the 20th century, and certainly the present, have called for a shift in ministry. We are no longer in charge, we are working hand in hand with indigenous clergy and religious, helping to strengthen the roots of Christianity and to help those less fortunate through educational programs of various levels.

With the younger Churches still depending on assistance from the outside, financial aid is of importance. Ever since our beginnings in Schuyler in 1935, the monks of Christ the King Priory/Benedictine Mission House see this as an ongoing challenge.

Without the help of dedicated friends and benefactors we would not be able to help those less fortunate.

Outreach to the poor, pastoral ministry, the building up of parish centers, education at all levels of learning, and the operation of hospitals and health clinics are just the "tip of the iceberg" of our ministries.

Empowered by God's Holy Spirit we live among the people, giving witness of Christ's loving care, bringing the Good News of the Gospel and the teachings of the Church, celebrating the Sacraments with those who have embraced the faith, restoring hope...
