Dear Friends and Benefactors,
As most of you know, I was appointed Mission Procurator and Treasurer at the beginning of February. It has been an interesting and challenging time. I’m the first American born monk to hold such a position in our community!
When I came to Schuyler, over thirty years ago, our only purpose was to raise funds for the missions. My brother monks made it clear that we were here for the sake of the missions! Since then, our ministries have diversified a bit, with the addition of St. Benedict’s Center, and Hispanic and Young Adult Ministries. But you could say that I am “old guard” Mission House. I am here to make sure that our missionaries can do what they need to do. We are their servants. In the same way, we are here to make sure that your sacrifices for our missions and ministries are not taken for granted, or ignored. For 79 years the American people have been supporting our monks and sisters in their work of bringing the “light to the blind”. You, our friends and benefactors, continue to support and trust us to do that work. Please know that your sacrifices, both large and small, spiritual and material, are not taken for granted. Know that I include you all in my daily prayers. The community of monks and the missionaries also include you in their prayers and masses.
On behalf of all the monks and missionaries, and the mission office team, I thank you for your support!
May God Bless You!
Fr. Adam Patras, OSB
