“Rejoice in the
Lord Always!” (Philippians 4:4)
Let us explore
how such a joyful attitude can grow, which is God’s will for us, in the face of
our own difficulties and disappointments, of sickness and natural disasters, of
financial crisis, and of our time’s horrors and violence. A lifestyle of always
rejoicing requires a living consciousness of our divine birthright as beloved
daughters and sons of Joy Divine.

a ‘vacation’ for your marriage, an opportunity to relax and re-create your
relationship. Time for learning, quiet reflection, discussion and fun.

T’ai Chi Chih®
T’ai Chi Chih® is a series of gentle movements that can be done by
anyone. The movements are a form of meditation. We pay attention, becoming
aware of where our body is loose or tight, with what attitude we are moving,
even what motivates the move. We honor our bodies as gift and instrument. This
retreat is for beginners who are new to TCC and for those who have been
introduced to this prayer form. Like other forms of prayer, when doing TCC we
all come as beginners. TCC is not something you learn and try to perfect. It is
a path that you travel with God.
Rita Otis
has a graduate certificate in Spiritual Direction from Creighton University, a
Master’s Degree in Education and is a certified teacher of T’ai Chi Chih. She
works as a Commissioned Minister of Spiritual Direction at the Countryside

Sabbath: Resting in
the Goodness of God
“The best
prayer is to rest in the goodness of God, knowing that goodness can reach down
to our lowest depth of need”
(Julian of Norwich). Sabbath time is time of paying attention to our
relationship with God through silence, prayer and worship, of taking pleasure in
the beauty of the earth, of visiting with friends or family, of feeding the
soul, of listening and resting. Come and enjoy some time away from the
‘busyness’ of life, the quiet, some creative ways of praying, and resting in the
presence of God and one other.
Father Joe Nassal, CPPS,
is the
author of eight books including, The Conspiracy of Compassion, Rest Stops for
the Soul, Premeditated Mercy, Moments of Truth, and Stations of the Crib. A
Missionary of the Precious Blood, he has been engaged in retreat, renewal and
reconciliation ministry since 1988. In 2002, he was part of the team to
establish the Precious Blood Center for Reconciliation on the south side of
Chicago. Ordained in 1982, Fr. Joe has also served in parish and justice and
peace ministry and in formation, vocation, and leadership for his congregation.

Living with a Mary
Heart in a Martha World
Both Mary and
Martha in the New Testament show us something of ourselves. Like Mary, we long
to sit at the Lord’s feet, but the daily demands of a busy world just won’t
leave us alone. Like Martha, we love Jesus and really want to serve him.
Yes, Mary and
Martha are part of each one of us. Come and explore during this retreat, guided
by Joanna Weaver’s, book, Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World, how you
can live them both.
Sister Kathleen Courtney, OSB, is a Benedictine
Sister from Yankton, SD, and holds Master’s Degrees in Art Education and
Creation Spirituality. She taught Art at Mount Marty College, presently
offers spiritual direction and is an experienced retreat director.

Dead Man
Walking: The Journey Continues
“Justice
is a constitutive part of the Gospel. It’s not extra. It’s not what you’re
going to do AFTER charity. It’s constitutive.”
During this retreat,
Sister Helen Prejean, CSJ, a Southern storyteller,
brings you on a journey and shares her experiences involved with her death
penalty ministry while working with the poor. Sr. Helen, a native of
Lousiana, is an internationally known death penalty opponent, the author of the
New York Times best-seller, Dead Man Walking, and inspiration for
the movie of the same name. She is a religious educator, champion of the
poor—and part-time comedian! She also authored Death of Innocents: Wrongful
Executions and founded the Moratorium Campaign, a group seeking to
